She was employed with Hermann Memorial Hospital in the field of nursing until her health failed. In 1995, Janice gave birth to her only child, Johnny Lewis III, who she affectionately called Tre. A strong mother-child bond—Tre and Janice were inseparable. Janice is preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Maxey; father Joe N. Horn; mother, Ruth Horn; sisters, Patricia Prescott and Sandra Prescott; brother, James Horn and nephew, Raymond Ware. Leaving to miss her love, strong shoulder and guidance is her son, Johnny Lewis III ("Tre"); sisters, Barbara Pickens (John), Mildred Douglas (Roosevelt), Pamela Horn, Donna Wallace; brother, Cecil Prescott, all of Houston; God-aunt, Mildred Watson; aunts, Irma Templeton of Houston, Brenda Adams of Houston, Texas, Carolyn Scott and Delphine Scott, both of Jasper, Texas; uncle, Elie Taylor of Minden, Louisiana, Cleo Lewis of Gary Indiana, Brown Lee Horn of Houston; and a host of nephews and nieces, other family members and friends.
